Introduction

Banh Mi Station is a modern Vietnamese eatery in Dallas, Texas, led by owner Kevin Vivorakij. With a commitment to keeping Vietnamese cuisine fresh and innovative, the restaurant needed a digital presence that reflected its dynamic personality and delicious offerings. Collaborating with Kevin, I developed a visual storytelling strategy that combined professional photography and videography to highlight the restaurant’s vibrant atmosphere, authentic dishes, and commitment to quality.

The Problem

When Banh Mi Station first opened, it faced challenges in establishing a strong online presence. The restaurant needed a way to stand out in the competitive Dallas food scene and connect with both traditional food lovers and modern dining enthusiasts. The lack of consistent and high-quality content on social media limited its reach and ability to engage with potential customers.

Photography and Videography Campaigns

To address these challenges, I focused on creating a visual experience that captured the essence of Banh Mi Station.

  • Photography: High-quality food photography was used to showcase the vibrant colors, textures, and details of the dishes. From the crispness of the baguettes to the fresh herbs and vibrant pickled vegetables, the images celebrated the artistry and authenticity of Vietnamese cuisine.
  • Videography: Short, engaging videos highlighted the process behind the food, from assembling a perfect banh mi to pouring steaming bowls of pho. These clips not only promoted the menu but also gave customers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the restaurant’s dedication to quality.

The content was tailored for social media, featuring eye-catching visuals and compelling narratives that invited customers to explore the restaurant and share their experiences.

What I Learned

This project emphasized the importance of visual storytelling in building a restaurant’s digital identity. I learned how to tailor photography and videography for social media platforms, ensuring the content captured the energy of the restaurant and resonated with its target audience. Additionally, working with Banh Mi Station reinforced the value of community engagement and the role of customer experiences in shaping a brand’s online presence. The project allowed me to merge creative and strategic thinking to elevate a local restaurant into a memorable digital brand.
