The Problem
When I first set out to build Kataklusm, the challenge was transforming my vision into a cohesive, functional, and meaningful clothing line. Early iterations started with basic graphic t-shirt designs but lacked the distinctiveness and depth I wanted to convey. My goal was to create something more unique—handmade items that balanced modern, minimalist aesthetics with subtle spiritual undertones. Another challenge was translating this vision into a cohesive brand identity and digital presence that could communicate the heart of Kataklusm’s ethos to its audience.
The Design Process
The design process was both an artistic and deeply introspective journey. I started by defining the essence of Kataklusm: bold minimalism combined with spiritual storytelling. The cornerstone of the branding—the abstracted “eye of Jesus” graphic—embodied the balance between modernity and spirituality I sought to capture. This was more than just a logo; it became a recurring motif, appearing across garments and branding materials.
I focused on creating high-contrast, black-and-white designs that emphasized boldness and clarity while leaving space for interpretation. Early prototypes involved screen-printing and hand-sewing garments, giving each piece a personal touch. As I moved toward creating more sophisticated designs, I incorporated premium materials and experimented with unique textures to elevate the quality of the clothing. From every stitch to every graphic, each decision was rooted in a desire to merge streetwear’s authenticity with the refinement of high-end fashion.
Research
My research for Kataklusm began by exploring the worlds of streetwear, high-end fashion, and spirituality. I delved into how streetwear brands like Supreme and Off-White build cultural resonance and community, while studying the clean lines and timeless sophistication of luxury designers. Additionally, I explored spiritual motifs and abstract symbolism, ensuring these elements were subtle yet impactful in my designs.
User Personas
Two primary personas guided the development of Kataklusm:
- A young, fashion-forward individual who values self-expression and gravitates toward bold, innovative designs with cultural relevance.
- A consumer who appreciates understated luxury and is drawn to minimalist aesthetics with deeper symbolic meaning.
These personas helped shape not only the clothing designs but also the tone of the brand storytelling, ensuring it resonated with both streetwear enthusiasts and those seeking elevated, meaningful fashion.

What I Learned
Kataklusm was a deeply fulfilling project that taught me how to merge tangible craftsmanship with digital design to create a holistic brand experience. It reinforced the importance of intentional storytelling and how design can evoke emotion and foster connection. I learned the value of iteration—not just in the garments themselves, but in the evolution of the brand’s identity over time. Most importantly, Kataklusm allowed me to channel my passions into something physical and personal, creating a project that remains close to my heart. While the brand is currently on pause, its impact on my creative growth continues to inspire my work today.
